This is something you could do to help preventing the increasing image theft in the internet.
Brief:
In here you can see a small explanation of what is a watermark, along with some considerations and information about copyright.
You can also see the difference between a text and a graphic watermark, with the plus and minus of each type.
This article then explains basic Adobe® Photoshop® tools and techniques to add watermarks to your images, along with examples of different types and/or placements.
